Light pigments: instructions for use

Classically, in colored formulas, we work on four pigments derived from iron oxides, explains Sylvie Guichard, director of scientific communication makeup at L'Oreal research: black (or blue, brighter), red, yellow and white. But today, we no longer content ourselves with using them "rough". They are "tinkered" to give effects of transparency, light and shine to the material. In view of the latest innovations, we can say that they are magic particles.

MANUAL

Textures containing high-tech pigments should be handled with care. Caroline Nègre, at Yves Saint Laurent, explains "They are spread on the fingers or brush, over a care cream (useless if treatment effects are claimed). In any case, a homogeneous pressure is required to unify the laying of the pigments. You can also pour a few drops into the palm of your hand, rub them against each other and sweep your face. The result is thus perfectly visualized.

Light pigments for perfectionists

"It's not the pigment itself that changes color on the skin," explains Édouard Mauvais-Jarvis, director of scientific communication for Christian Dior. It is precisely the way they are surrounded, the loads, such as powders for example, that will interfere with the path of light. A bit like a filter on a lens. "

To arrive at a cosmetic "creative of perfect skin" Dior laboratories interviewed eight hundred women, from 20 to 70 years, all ethnic groups confused. As a result, the youthfulness of the face depends above all on the quality of the skin and the uniformity of the complexion. "We began by understanding how the skin absorbs, processes, diffuses light," says the scientist. Young skin appears homogeneous thanks to the flattened cells of the epidermis and then, deeper, thanks to the cells in the form of hollow cubes, full of water and able to diffuse the light at 360 degrees. As the cells age, the cells become dehydrated. The passage of light is altered. The signs of age become evident. "We have developed an ultra sophisticated pigment assembly complex; mineral biomimetic powders which reproduce the optical properties of the epidermis, whatever its color: crystalline mica plates, hollow silica spheres to mimic well hydrated cells, and a complex of mineral powders. The whole, on the surface, serves as perfect second skin. "

The icing on the cake, the researchers introduced plant extracts with exceptional anti-aging properties: longoza from Madagascar and opilia from Burkina Faso. A perfect skin action, in and out somehow.

Light pigments for pressed women

All the surveys confirm this: women dream of a deep anti-aging, but that would bring them an effect "wow! "Immediately. Bingo at Garnier where the labs have created a perfect hybrid: ultra-long-term care and invisible micropigments for an instantaneous optical effect. His secret? "White microcapsules filled with micropigments with an instant perfec- tor effect," says Sylvie Guichard at L'Oréal. We faced two problems: finding a polymer that releases the pigments when it is needed while remaining stable in the formula, and finding an ideal shade that characterizes, in all women, the beautiful skin. "

After years of research, it is done with this cream with a white and fresh texture. In contact with the skin the micropigments release their magic: true concentrates of brilliance, they give an incomparable luminosity and blur all the signs of the age. As for care, it is a cocktail of seven active ingredients, vitamins, antioxidants, etc., which acts in the long term by reducing wrinkles, fine lines and pigmentary irregularities.

Light pigments for skins atones

The Miracle Complexion of Lancôme has already accomplished a feat in 2010 bringing 25% more luminosity. But this year, Miracle goes even further. "Thanks to our new combination of mother-of-pearl and pigment, we can reproduce the entire luminous spectrum," says Véronique Delvigne, director of scientific communication Lancôme. Our pigments (iron oxides) have an opaque core and, all around, a transparent coating. It is a bit like a yarrow with, on the outside, micas and mother-of-pearl that make the light bounce by letting it pass a part, without losing in transparency. The result is a very fresh complexion with the impression of an astonishing inner radiance.

Light pigments for a personalized shine

"For a CC Cream à la carte, we have worked with three types of pigments," says Caroline Nègre, head of scientific communication Yves Saint Laurent. The classical iron oxides. Then we coated a transparent base of silica with red pigments to give a pink shade glow very bright. Third family of pigments: the bismuth oxychlorides, rectangular lamellas returning an extraordinary brilliance, perfectly homogeneous.

In the end, the complexion looks totally unified, and actually treated since the formula also contains the famous anti-aging glycanactant complex.
