Head coach Daryl Powell says winning the League Leaders' Shield is a big goal for his Castleford Tigers side this season.

The Super League frontrunners find themselves 10 points clear from second-place Leeds Rhinos at the top of the table, as the teams enter the Super 8s section of the season.

Winning the Grand Final at Old Trafford is considered by many to be the biggest prize in the competition but Powell feels finishing top of the table come the play-offs to claim the Shield would be a massive achievement for his Tigers side.

He said: "It would be one of my biggest achievements.

"I don't buy into the theory that it's not valuable, I think it's hugely valuable. I think it's the biggest prize but it's not seen that way in rugby league at the moment.

"For this group of players it's very special because nobody has ever achieved it at this club before."
