Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Daniel Sturridge is in line to make his first Liverpool appearance of the season against Crystal Palace.

England international Sturridge has been sidelined since the start of August with a muscle strain he picked up during the Reds 3-0 pre-season success against Bayern Munich.

The 27-year-old was forced to watch on as Liverpool kicked off the new Premier League season with a 3-3 draw at Watford, while he was also absent for their 2-1 success over Hoffenheim in the first-leg of their Champions League play-off tie.

However, Klopp has now confirmed the former Chelsea ace is in line to feature at Anfield this weekend, although Philippe Coutinho remains absent due to a back injury, as speculation begins to gather pace that he is on the verge of joining Barcelona.

"Daniel, yes I would say," Klopp said. "He played a part in a full session but always after injuries you have to wait to see how the player has reacted," Klopp said. "Phil is not available."

Klopp insists he does not know when Coutinho will recover from his back problem, meaning the 25-year-old could have already played his last game for the Merseyside outfit.

The German added: "That is always how it is with injured players. I don't know when he will be back. There's nothing new."
